Hello Golfer,
Today, I will be writing on the types of shots you should take in and around the green while playing in a difficult terrain. Enjoy the write up.............
On and around the green, you will need a variety of shots in your armoury if you are to successfully get up and down from around the green, while putting in blustery conditions. You will require a slight change to your normal set up. Here are some tips..
Bump - Run
Link greens are often guarded by steep slopes. If you are at the bottom of a hill staring up to a pin perched on a tight ledge, a bump - and - run is the best option. Take a 4 or 5 iron and hit a normal chip aiming to pitch the ball on a flat area at the bottom of the slope. Don't attempt to kill a flighted pitch into the top of the bank - predicting how the ball will react is impossible.
Holding Out
Now when you are buffeted by the wind, you will require a solid base and a compact putting stroke. Take a wider stance than usual and push your elbows into your midriff. Keep your stroke shot but be sure to accelerate the putter head positively through in the direction of the hole.
Escaping The Bunkers
The sand in the bunkers on seaside courses is generally softer than that found on inside layouts. To control your splash shot on the links, you will have to hit even further behind the ball than usual. The line nearer the ball is where you will hit when playing an inland course; the line further from the ball is where the club needs to enter the sand on a link's layout. The club head glides easily through lighter sand so look to make a longer splash.
Happy Golfing
